| The Alta School Board Misappropriates Funds yet Again. In an unbelievable move the Alta Loma School Board hired Rebecca Lawrence as Superintendent and proceeded to give her a 12% guaranteed pay raise over the next 3 years. Also should the district grant a pay raise to the other members of the district management team she would receive that increase as well... The Alta Loma teachers are shocked that during this time of extreme financial hardship the school board would grant such a pay increase. This is being done even though the Teachers have been told their is insufficient funds to grant teachers a pay raise this year or next year. Why would a school board off this type of increase given the grave financial problems this district and community are facing? Why would a newly hired Superintendent accept such a contract when she knows this will severely affect morale and will make her ability to govern this district that much more difficult? As teachers we were willing to accept no pay increase for this year and next year, but given his slap in in our face and the face of the Alta Loma Community, we will now ask for the same pay adjustment given to the new superintendent. |
